Lessons are one-on-one with an instructor so that we can focus on the individual needs and goals of each student.

Can I do lessons every other week?

At this time we only offer weekly lessons.

Do I need to have a piano or keyboard at home?

Yes, in order to make progress you will need to have a piano or keyboard at home to practice with in between lessons. We do allow students to take a few lessons if they are considering whether or not they want to purchase a piano or keyboard.

What keyboard should I buy?

We recommend a Yamaha P-45 keyboard which is a great quality for the price. It also has good resale value if you ever want to sell it. It sells new for around $450-$500. At a lower price point, we recommend an Alesis Recital for $220 which is good enough for beginners to start on.

Can you travel to my house to do lessons?

At this time we only teach at our studio in Lynn.

Do I have to practice every day?

We encourage daily practice for students who want to progress quickly. 30 minutes per day is sufficient but more time will lead to better results. We have students who practice 1-2 hours daily and have made incredible progress. However, we understand that people are busy! At a minimum, we recommend students practice at least 2 or 3 days a week for at least 15 minutes.

Can I learn any song or musical style that I want?

Yes! We love it when students request songs or styles. Just let us know what you want to learn and we will find the appropriate sheet music for you. We are able to teach all styles including classical, jazz, improv, and other contemporary styles.

How long until I am able to play a song?

You will be able to play songs after the very first lesson! They will be simple at first but over time you will be able to learn more advanced songs.

Do you have recitals?

We offer students the opportunity to perform at recitals twice a year. We have a Holiday Recital in December and a Spring Recital in June. Recitals are not required but they are encouraged. Recitals take place at a local church with all our families and friends and it is a wonderful time watching the students perform. Recitals are available only for children in grade school, not for our adult students.
